Welcome to Module 13 of the Flight Sim Mastery Academy.

FSRealistic Pro is an immersion enhancement application that brings Microsoft Flight Simulator to life by adding realistic camera movement, cockpit vibrations, environmental sounds and aircraft feedback that reacts dynamically to the way you fly.

Unlike ChasePlane, which focuses on camera positioning and cinematic views, FSRealistic enhances how the aircraft feels through motion, vibration and sound.

When configured correctly, the simulator feels significantly more alive.

When configured poorly, it can become distracting, unrealistic and even uncomfortable.

STEP 1 — Installation & Setup

Students will finish this section with FSRealistic correctly installed, activated and communicating with the simulator.


STEP 2 — Configuration & Building Realistic Profiles

Estimated Time: 25 Minutes

This is the core of the lesson.

Rather than simply enabling every effect, students learn how to tune each one for realism.

Camera Motion

Explain:

  • Head inertia
  • Acceleration movement
  • Deceleration movement
  • Pitch effects
  • Roll effects
  • Yaw movement
  • Braking movement

Explain why subtle motion feels far more realistic than exaggerated movement.


Taxi Vibration

Cover:

  • Asphalt

  • Gravel
  • Centreline bumps
  • Taxi speed influence

Demonstrate recommended intensity ranges for:

  • GA aircraft
  • Narrow-body airliners
  • Wide-body aircraft

Touchdown Effects

Explain:

  • Main gear touchdown
  • Nosewheel touchdown
  • Smooth landings
  • Firm landings
  • Crosswind landings
  • Bounce recovery

Teach students how to avoid the “camera explosion” effect that many users accidentally create.


Turbulence Effects

Cover:

  • Light turbulence
  • Moderate turbulence
  • Severe turbulence
  • Wake turbulence
  • Gusts
  • Wind shear

Explain how aircraft type changes the amount of movement.

Creating Realistic Intensity Settings

This is one of the most valuable parts of the lesson.

Teach students how to build three profiles:

Conservative

Balanced

Immersive

Then explain why “Balanced” is usually the most realistic.

Students learn that realism is achieved through subtlety rather than maximum intensity.


ChasePlane Compatibility

This deserves its own section.

Explain:

What both programs control.

What should be disabled inside ChasePlane.

What should remain enabled inside FSRealistic.

How to avoid:

  • Double turbulence
  • Double landing shake
  • Double engine vibration
  • Conflicting camera movement

Provide a recommended workflow for using both applications together.


STEP 3 — Performance Testing & Compatibility

Estimated Time: 10 Minutes

Students now test the impact of FSRealistic.

Student Practical Assignment

Students will:

  • Install and activate FSRealistic Pro.
  • Create three different immersion profiles (Conservative, Balanced and Immersive).
  • Build separate profiles for one airliner and one GA aircraft.
  • Compare FSRealistic on its own, ChasePlane on its own and both applications together.
  • Complete a full benchmark flight, recording average FPS, 1% lows, CPU usage, RAM usage, frame times and overall smoothness.
  • Decide which profile delivers the most realistic experience without negatively affecting performance.
